Epic launches Connectors to link third-party apps to its AI agents

At its Open@Epic conference on Oct. 21, Epic announced Connectors, which let third-party apps plug into its AI agents: Emmie (patient-facing), Art (clinician-facing) and Penny (revenue cycle and operations). Connectors also work with custom agents that health systems build in Epic's no-code Agent Factory. Examples given include an ambulance app feeding arrival times to an emergency department and a hospital dietary app taking meal orders through Emmie. Fierce Healthcare reports that developer-built Connectors will be available through Epic Showroom starting in March 2027.

Why it's notable: Most health systems run their AI tools inside Epic, so how outside vendors connect to Epic's agents will shape which tools they can adopt. It is a defined route for vendors beyond one-off integrations, though it is not available until 2027.
