Takeda signs AI drug discovery deal with Iambic worth up to $1.7B
On February 9, 2026, Takeda and San Diego biotech Iambic announced a multi-year deal to design small-molecule drugs with Iambic's AI models. The work starts in Takeda's oncology and gastrointestinal and inflammation programs. Iambic gets upfront, research and technology-access payments and could earn more than $1.7 billion in success-based payments plus royalties. Takeda gets access to NeuralPLexer, Iambic's model for predicting how drugs bind to proteins, along with its automated wet lab. Iambic says its lab can run a full design-make-test cycle every week.
